It was an even earlier start to the day with us leaving our base at 7.30am. Some of them looked wide awake , others looked like the walking dead and that was just the coaches and helpers. So off we set for Holland and the sat nav directed us to a bridge that we could not cross as the bus weighed to much......must have been all the pizza, chips and burgers for last nights tea. So the driver about turned the bus and after discussion between Lynne and the driver, Kenny we got on the right road.
We arrived at the tournament venue, the Rood-Wit 62 stadium after about a 1hr where we were greeted by a sign stating the teams and where they were from. The list consisted of Dutch teams, English teams and one Scottish which was Celtic Thistle. Hold on, where were Salvesen. To our horror they included us as a English team, of course this was quickly addressed.......lol.
We were appointed our dressing room which we shared with Celtic Thistle. The tournament consisted of 8 teams and was played as a round robin with each game lasting 20min straight through. Our first game was at 10.25am so we had a little time to warm up and shake the cobwebs from the sleepy heads.

Match 1 Salvesen Whites v Bavos
Salvesen controlled their opening game and created good chances to open the scoring and enough chances to put the game well beyond their opposition. Salvesen were playing super passing football and Bavos took until the last 5 minutes to get a shot at goal after struggling to get out of their own half before that. to win a game you have to put your chances away but no matter how hard Salvesen tried they just could not find that killer goal. Salvesen had a great chance in the dying seconds to take the three point but somehow the chance was spurned.
Final Score
Salvesen Whites 0 Bavos 0

Match 2 Una v Salvesen Whites
Salvesen again played good football but Una were of a higher caliber of our previous opposition and gave Salvesen a real test. Again Salvesencreated chances and were unlucky not to go in front but it was Una who opened the scoring and went onto double their lead. Although Salvesen worked hard they just could not get back intp the game.
Final Score
Una 2 Salvesen Whites 0 ____________________________________________________
Game 3
Salvesen Whites v Heathland FC
Salvesen kicked off this match and just dominated from start to finish. Salvesen made up for the lack of goals in this game and looked like they were going to score with every attack. Ross opened the scoring and finished the scoring with goals from Lewis (3) Jordon (1) Lee (2) Stevie (2)sandwiched in between. Heathland had no response to Salvesens domination but tried to play football to their credit.
Final Score
Salvesen Whites 10 Heathland FC 0

Game 4
Salvesen Whites v Celtic Thistle
This was the biggy, the one that mattered to nthe lads. From arriving this was the game they wanted to win against a side decked out in their Celtic strips. This game was to be decided by the single goal. But which way did it go. This was a right good game but Salvesen certainly just had the edge and it was salvesen who were to go on and claim the 3 points. Stevie who one on one with the keeper slotted home to collide with the out coming keeper. He saw the ball roll into the net as he lay on the floor with a dead leg. He had to be substituted and hobbled of the pitch with a big smile on his face. the joy of scoring certainly is a good pain killer. Salvesen did have the chance to go two up but the shot was just wide.
Final Score
Salvesen 1 Celtic Thistle 0

Game 5
Rood_Wit 62 v Salvesen Whites
This was Salvesen game to take on the host team and they gave it a great try. Lets just say we were robbed due to some poor officiating. Salvesen were on a high after their last result and looked to have taken this into this game. The real talking point came when Roodwit broke up field and were clearly yards of side and although the flag was put up the referee decided to ignore it, this then led to Salvesen conceding a free kick on the edge of the box. The free kick was a cracker and flew high into the net leaving CJ with no chance in the Salvesen goal. Salvesen did press for the equaliser but it just did not come. A game lost to a poor decision certainly left us a bit annoyed shall we say.
Final Score
Rood_Wit 62 1 Salvesen Whites 0

Game 6
Salvesen v DBS
A cracking game of football with both team certainly going for it. The game was pretty even with Salvesen probably just having the edge but a slight lapse on the right hand siade saw the DBS player pick the ball up and drive at goal. He calmly picked his spot and bent into the top corner. Salvesen again fought hard and were playing good football and just when it looked like time was maybe just running out, Aaron came ome on and his first touch was to header the ball in for the equaliser. a really good point from a really good game.
Final Score
DBS 1 Salvesen 1

Game 7
Flitch Youth v Salvesen Whites
The final match of a long, ehausting day and we knew that a win might see us push for a good finish in the tournament. so a big push was needed and Salvesen certainly did let themselves down. Another good match but Salvesen took their chances this time and Lee opened the scoring with CJ getting a double. A super finish to the day and just maybe we got into the top halve of the table.
Final Score
Flitch Youth 0 Salvesen 3 ____________________________________________________
Presentation
Well it was off to the presentation to find out where we finished. Eighth place down to fourth announced and no mention of Salvesen so far so we made the top three and were in the prizes. Then in 3rd place, Salvesen Whites, which was great and the looks on the lads faces was a picture. Alex proudly as the captain went up to lift the 3rd place trophy on behalf of his team mates. A great day and a great result and the boys should be proud of their achievment today.
